IWMD2023 Liverpool Event Presentation On Prevention Of Suicide And Support Services

Work-related Suicide is a serious problem that to date the HSE refuses to count in its death at work stats, and to even approach employers who have lost an employee to suicide as a result of work pressures and work-life balance problems.

It is estimated that in the UK there are around 6,000 deaths through suicide per year.

Whilst not all suicides are work related and can be a mix of work and family pressures, the fact is that in the UK no one seems to care - neither the H&S authorities nor employers in majority of cases that support groups and trade unions are aware of.

One small charity working on Merseyside and based in the Wirral, is nevertheless providing support for those who have suffered the loss of a loved one or friend to suicide, and indeed providing education through classes on preventing suicide.

Deryn and Jodie from The Martin Gallier Project, attended the IWMD2023 event held in Liverpool and gave an enthusiastic, but emotional presentation on the work done by the charity:
